Sheriffs meet in Gloucester
SHERIFFS from across the country descended on Gloucester at the weekend for an annual gathering.
On November 20, 1984, Andrew Gravells (then sheriff of the city of Gloucester) wrote to sheriffs in the UK and set up the National Association of Sheriffs, who meet once a year.

OFFICIAL REGALIA: Sheriffs from England and Wales congregate at Blackfriars.
Having met annually all over the UK ever since, this year they were back in Gloucester at Blackfriars.
Councillor Andrew Gravells, national president of the association, said: "The attendance at this year's meeting in Gloucester was one of the best ever. We were able to show off the city at its best."
