Two Shetland ponies found abandoned at Longhope

Two Shetland ponies have been found abandoned on a lane near Longhope.

Animal welfare charity RSPCA is appealing for help in identifying the owner of the two ponies which were found on Thursday, February 28.

The ponies, a chestnut mare and a brown male with very overgrown hooves, were just grazing loose on the verges of Barrel Lane.

RSPCA inspector Rachel Hayward said: "The ponies were both covered in lice and not used to being handled.

"They were both seen by a vet and then transported to a yard where the male, in particular, had a long session with the farrier.

"We would love to have any information or clues you might be able to give us so that we can work out who the owners are."

    “Zalapompadoo how far away is Bransby Home for Ponies? Oh yes you have just heard the R$PCA propaganda, Bransby won't do anything for the ponies as they are out of their 60 mile zone by quite a long way!
    Chobblers they are a bit small for burgers, pet food or glue

    Anyone think they may be ferrell ponies who have lived wild in the forest for many years if this is the case the sudden change in diet may cause them great harm, this would lead the R$PCA having to prosecute itself (like that would happen)!”
