Shock over sudden closure of garage
MYSTERY surrounds the sudden closure of a garage near Tewkesbury.
Jason Jones Autocentre, which sold new and used cars on the A38 at Shuthonger, appears to have ceased trading.
Nobody was at the site yesterday when the Echo visited.
There were no cars on the forecourt, though four remained in a showroom at one end of the site.

No signs saying the business had closed were visible but there were no members of staff in the office, showroom or MOT and services areas.
Lucy Hodgkins, from nearby Puckrup, said the apparent closure of the site happened very quickly at the end of last week.
She said: "I think Jason must have been there for about 10 years.
"It's a bit of a shame. Apparently, those that knew him said that he was a really nice bloke."

“I have been following this thread - suffice to say I do have a personal interest. Unfortunately there does seem to be an element of truth in this whole sorry situation. Jason may have been a nice guy but sometimes even nice guys make mistakes (that's all I'm prepared to say). Mud slinging and one-upmanship won't help all the staff that are now out of work.”

“Dave77, no such Government Dept as HM Customs and Excise, it was renamed HM Revenue and Customs HMRC some years ago, and Mr Jones is at hoe with his family, not in Spain, my sources much better than yours, his wife told my wife this evening.”

“sitJimKerr almost every country in the world is affected by recession. Amongst those affected are the USA, China, Japan, as well as almost every country in Europe. Did Labour cause recession in all those countries? I thought Labour had been in power in Britain only. It is obvious that we are being affected by a worldwide economic crisis.
If you feel that the UK's recession was caused by Labour why after nearly two years of a coalition government are our debt levels HIGHER and are we not only in a recession, but now a double dip recession? Both Cameron and Osborne claim that we are being blown offcourse by the Eurozone. That is ini tself an admission that we affected by International events.
To pretend that our recession is caused by Labour and unrelated to the recession affecting the rest of the world is after two years stretching credibility. You only have to read TIG readers postings in response to many articles to see that the publics willingness to swallow that mantra is reducing day by day.”

“Dave77 - how do you know? Have you seen a separate news article somewhere else stating this, or did you hear it from a bloke in the pub / the post man / AN Other...??? How do you know Mr Jones has "gone to Spain"???
Without a confirmed source, I'd suggest your comment is as inflammatory / potentially libellous as Flossymumma's was.”

“Dave77,
There's no such thing as 'customs & excise' - Do you mean either:
1. Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC)
2. The Border Agency
HMRC collects NI & tax and pays out tax credits.”
