Shortwood boss John Evans hopes to build a winning run at Mangotsfield United
SHORTWOOD United boss John Evans will ask for more of the same from his squad at Mangotsfield United tomorrow after watching his side put in their performance of the season to sink Poole Town last weekend.
Wood ran riot against the promotion-chasing Dolphins to secure a 3-0 win that long-serving boss Evans said was as good as any result he has had in his time as Wood boss.
The only problem was that Evans had one major selection dilemma after the game – to pick his man of the match award winner for the club's website statistics.
"It was an excellent performance, we knew that we had to be right on our game to win – and we were," Evans said.

"Every player was excellent and I was forced to pick a man-of-the-match for our club website afterwards and that was incredibly difficult.
"I could only narrow it down as far as three in the end as Alton Axton, Jake Parrott and Mark Pritchett were all superb.
"But honestly, I could have picked anyone of them as everyone did their job superbly on the day.
"The key now is to try to get a run going like we did before Christmas but we know it will be a tough game at Mangotsfield on Saturday.
"Mangotsfield have a good squad and they will be confident about beating us having done a job on us at our place earlier in the season.
"But we'll go there with some confidence and the knowledge that we can get a result as well."
Evans has been boosted by the return to training of key striker Kevin Slack, although the former Bishop's Cleeve man will not make the squad for the trip to Cossham Street.
But with his return imminent, Evans is relishing the selection dilemma the striker's return will pose him in the coming weeks.
"Kevin Slack trained this week and will play for the reserves on Saturday so he's not a million miles away which is good for us," Evans said.
"I'm going to have a bit of a problem when Slacky's back available because I'll have some great options with Luke Gullick and TJ Bohane up front.
"But that's a great thing for a manager and I would much prefer to be in that situation than the one we had at the start of the season, where we struggled for strikers.
"Slacky and TJ each have their own strengths and Luke is such a good footballer that he can play anywhere really, so we'll have no problem fitting them all in."
