NEW danger drug 'Smiles' is the latest high to cause concern to police, parents and Gloucestershire club owners.

A 20-year-old man from Gloucester has been arrested and questioned in connection with the death of a Surrey teenager who collapsed and died. It is understood he took the drug, possibly through an inhaler, at a party on Chobham Common on Saturday.

The Gloucester man, along with an 18-year-old woman from Bristol have been released on police bail.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire Police said officers are trying to find out more about the drug, with a chemical name of SC-I.

"This is a drug that we have not come across here in the county before and something we are now researching and briefing officers about," he said.

A Cheltenham drug user who wanted to remain anonymous said Smiles is a poor substitute for other more powerful stimulants and can be picked up on the street for just £5.

"It is a horrible drug," he said.

"Smiles is like any other cheap alternative to ecstasy or amphetamine. It is a poor substitute with worse side effects and a less enjoyable high.

"Young people see it as a cheaper option to other drugs but the side effects are horrible."

“Be careful of Triple-sod, Yellow Bentines and Clarky Cat too, I hear the worst is the Eastern European drug called Cake”
