Sneak peek at Cheltenham cinema's luxury Screening Rooms
FILM fanatics caught a glimpse of Cineworld's new luxury cinema rooms yesterday ahead of the opening of three screens which offer film viewing in the lap of luxury.
The cinema chain unveiled the new rooms, known as The Screening Rooms, to the public as a teaser to today's launch.
The new screens are located adjacent to the existing Cineworld at The Brewery.
This new unit will house three plush new cinema suites with bar and leather chairs flown in from Australia – each with its own table and wine cooler.
Cineworld and the Screening Rooms chief executive officer Steve Weiner said: "We're delighted to be opening the very first The Screening Rooms in Cheltenham.
"When you walk in it's more like an airport VIP lounge. I see it as your cinema ticket giving you access to a private bar."
The screens will show a variety of films, from the latest blockbusters to art house films, alongside regular live screenings via satellite, such as opera, theatre and ballet performances, all in 3D.
Films at the three screens will cost between £8 and £19 a ticket, depending on the time of day. For more information and to book tickets visit www.the screeningrooms.co.uk or follow them at Facebook.com/thescreeningrooms.
Tickets booked online qualify for a £2 per ticket discount (£17 instead of £19)

“I went to see the Hunger Games and loved the experience. Great for a date with your wife - you're away from hoards of noisy kids, and having a bottle of wine with your popcorn is quietly thrilling :)”

“In my opinion this type of cinematic experience is long overdue in Cheltenham. For the extra cash I'd quite happily sit in a cinema auditorium free from the usual throngs of hyper-active sweet scoffing kids and the ever present smell of vomit. This clearly is a very good idea, congratulations Cineworld and I wish you every success.”

“For that price you could buy at least 2 DVD's or a Blu-Ray and have money left over for beer/popcorn.
I think it's priced above the average cinema goer. It does look nice though.”

“Between £8 and £19 a ticket! Nice idea, but cinema tickets are already vastly overpriced. I'd rather watch at home - my sofa's perfectly comfortable, thanks.”
