A council spokeswoman said: "As soon as conditions improve and it is safe to do so, collections will recommence.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience caused but we have to put the safety of the public first.

"The priority catch up collections will be refuse collections - black wheeled bins and council issue beige sacks.

"In the event of a missed collection, residents will be permitted to put out additional waste in refuse sacks alongside containers.

"Garden waste collections will be postponed until catch up collections are completed, so that  vehicles and crews can be utilised on main refuse services."

Council bosses will be wary after a Stroud District Council refuse lorry left the road due to icy conditions.
