Vicky Entwistle, best known as the feisty Janice Battersby in Coronation Street, and Heartbeat's Steven Blakely also star.

The play tells the tale of Trevor Tinsley who is a small-town grocer with a devoted wife and new baby – but his desire to taste the forbidden fruit of free love leads him astray and into the welcoming arms of his neighbour's wife.

Hilarious misadventures ensue, revealing a host of comic characters as Trevor's actions lead him into conflict with his strait-laced community and provokes his narrow-minded wife into a surprising reaction of her own.

A prolific writer for stage, television and radio, Mike Stott is renowned for celebrating the quirkiness and robust charm of ordinary life, which he delivers completely with this multi award-winning comedy.

This West End smash is credited with launching the careers of Julie Walters and Richard Beckinsale when it was originally staged, also starring Bill Nighy and Matthew Kelly.

The current production is sure to be equally memorable, given the calibre of its young stars.

Craig Gazey recently scooped the National Television Awards' Best Newcomer prize as well as the British Soap Awards Best Comedy Performer accolade for his portrayal of Coronation Street's popular innocent, Graeme.

Suzanne Shaw, who shot to fame when she won TV talent contest Popstars to become a member of the band Hear'Say, has gone on to become a regular West End leading lady with appearances in Grease, Chicago and Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat.

Viewers will also remember Suzanne from ITV's Dancing On Ice, where she was crowned champion.

Francesca Goddard from The Everyman said: "This play has been entertaining audiences since the 1970s and I'm sure this production won't disappoint.

"We're really lucky to have it here and we can't wait to see it."

The show contains some strong language, nudity and adult humour.

Tickets for the production cost from £12 to £24.

“I saw the play in Eastbourne and thought it was brilliant. The play is both hilarious and tragic at times and shows how times were changing in England. For my own review see http://tinyurl.com/cg88ldc Thanks”
