Spartans snatch a last-gasp victory
Spartans Under-15s 21 Pontypridd Under-15s 19
SPARTANS entertained some tough Welsh opposition from Pontypridd in what proved to be an extremely closely fought encounter at Lansdown Road.
Several changes to the starting line-up didn't appear to unsettle the home side who raced into an early lead through tries from Luke Forsythe and impressive winger Brad Dunn.
Any thoughts of a comfortable victory were soon dispelled as the visitors fought back almost immediately with a well worked try.

Intelligent use of the elements by the Welsh stand-off constantly pushed the Red Ants back into their own half.
Solid defensive work frustrated the forward pack who were struggling to deal with the contest at the breakdown and several penalties helped push the home side back into defence.
Strong work from Harry Davies, Beck Phillips and Kingsley Bembridge in the front row started to pay dividends as the hosts finished the first period in the ascendency.
Spartans turned around at half- time with the wind and slope in their favour but struggled to make use of the advantage and it was the visiting team which broke out of defence to level the scores at 14-14 midway through the second period.
Spartans were in danger of losing their 18-month undefeated record when the Welsh visitors crossed the line with five minutes to go but the conversion sailed wide.
As full time approached late substitute Harrison Fowke crashed over close to the posts after several driving runs from the resurgent Spartans team.
With the sides level Nathan Charnock held his nerve to slot the extras with the last kick of the game and complete a faultless kicking display.
The travelling Pontypridd players voted Spartans skipper Forsythe player of the match and club ties were exchanged during the post match presentations.
