Sport fields level defended
BOROUGH council chiefs say they are committed to providing enough playing fields for youngsters in Cheltenham.
It comes after residents and sports club managers in the town bemoaned the dearth of pitches available for team sports.
Some teams are understood to have been forced to move out of town due to a lack of space.
A council spokesman responded by defending the authority's provision of sports areas.

"The Council has planning guidance policies in place that require developers to provide public green space as part of large housing schemes," he said. "We have undertaken a green space assessment and written a green space strategy that guides us on the management of our green space assets to best meet the needs of Cheltenham."
