Sports Direct has bought a leading fashion chain after it went in administration
Sports Direct brought the fashion chain, Republic yesterday as it went into administration, due to financial problems.
A total of 116 out of 121 stores have been saved thanks to the move, including shops in Gloucester's Eastgate Street and Cheltenham High Street.
Republic's administrators Ernst and Young said the sale to Sports Direct for an undisclosed sum would safeguard over 2,100 jobs and secure the future for the Republic brand.
The Republic stores in Scotland and Ireland are not included in the deal.
