Sports foundation set up to preserve Brockworth green space
SPORTS loving villagers are setting up a foundation to help protect Brockworth's green spaces.
Mum-of-two Jo Farrington wants to ensure more land is not just "swallowed up" by development.
The 47-year-old has joined forces with vice-chairman of Brockworth Rugby Football Club Rich Gladding and members of Brockworth Albion Football Club.
They are in the process of setting up the Brockworth Sports and Recreation Foundation.

Jo said: "The main purpose is to ensure that in the event of any potential development taking place, the people of Brockworth have a voice.
"Once any building or development takes place, land cannot be reclaimed."
She has lived in the village all her life and said she is trying to develop sport in the community as a whole.
She was prompted to set up the trust after seeing proposals by Hunter Page Planning for a new housing estate on greenbelt land by the A417.
Jo said: "The people of Brockworth are seeing the land around them being swallowed up by development."
Jo said while she was not in favour of the greenbelt being built on, the foundation would not be getting involved in fighting it.
She said its purpose would be to negotiate developer contributions towards sports and recreation facilities.
She said: "The foundation will allow for any section 106 monies to become available to the trust for sports provision without having to go through the various councils first."
She scotched any suggestion of a "deal" with the developers.
