Sports writer Frank, 75, dies
LEGENDARY Guardian sports writer Frank Keating has died, aged 75.
He was brought up in Cheltenham and grew up watching county cricket at the Cheltenham College ground, before cutting his teeth in journalism at the Stroud News & Journal, which he joined in 1956, aged 18. He then moved to the Hereford Times when he was 20, before becoming a sub-editor for The Guardian newspaper.
He went on to become a great sports writer and columnist.
His parents Bryan and Monica Keating lived in Harp Hill, Cheltenham, for many years.

He married twice, first to TV producer Sally Head, then to second wife Jane, with whom he had two children, Paddy and Tess.
