'Spotted Matson' Facebook criticised for bringing the area down
ABUSE is being levelled at Matson and its residents on a new Facebook page.
'Spotted Matson' launched on Tuesday, August 6 and has already attracted more than 300 likes.
Although the administrators of the page say it is designed for fun, the timeline is littered with expletives and derisory comments towards Matson.
One anonymous post said: "How can people talk about Matson like it's a good place?? I hate it and I live there!!"

Another post uses swear words to put Matson down.
Gloucester city councillor Kate Haigh (L, Matson and Robinswood) said she was aware of websites similar to this one but was quick to defend the area.
She said: "I think Matson is one of the nicest places to live in the city in terms of its locality and amenities, plus there is tremendous community spirit.
"It is unfortunate that some people choose to put the area down, but it is only a few.
"Most people in the community have a positive outlook and they want to be better.
"A lot of work has been done in the ward by people like Gloucester City Homes.
"Matson does have this reputation of being a bit run down, and maybe that was right some time ago, but not any more."
At the start of the year Gloucester City Homes announced it had spent £1,249,069 on bringing the area up to scratch in the previous 12 months.
Meanwhile, those in charge of the site sought to clarify their stance amidst the abusive comments.
On the page they posted: "[We do] not respond to insults, or post information which is directed at us. We simply act as a middle-ground for people wishing to have their say about anything in their area... Positive or negative. We let you do the rest...."
Some of the comments on the site are positive about the area though.
One visitor posted: "I was brought up in Matson and lived in Matson and I loved it.
" You know everybody and it's a good community and never had any trouble either."
Sandy Brammer, secretary of Matson and Robinswood residents group, said: "I've lived in Matson for 10 years and I've never had a problem.
"I have seen the Facebook page and it's things like that that make Matson look rubbish, when really it isn't."
