St Patrick's Day fun at Gloucester and District Irish Club
IRISH eyes were smiling as countrymen and women with roots across the water celebrated St Patrick's Day in fine style yesterday.
Rooted now in Gloucester, and partying at the city's Irish Club, the comrades remembered their homeland with Irish music and dancers.
There were lucky shamrock buttonholes too for special guests, who included Mayor of Gloucester Councillor David Brown and his wife Joanne.
"It was packed. A huge crowd," Irish Club chairperson Lynne Hallihan said.

"We had a piper for the mayor. I'm from County Cork and our treasurer is from Tipperary," she said.
Gloucester and District Irish Society, that runs the club in Horton Road, was founded in 1964 and so is looking forward to its 50th anniversary next year.
