Stop cashing in on parking fines, councils warned
Councils have been told to stop cashing in on people's parking fine misery.
The Government's Transport Select Committee has warned that many local authorities are using millions of pounds of money raised from the issuing of parking fines to pay for other services.
The group of MPs have said that this should stop.
They have also urged councils to give people a five minute grace period between the time that their ticket has expired and the point at which a traffic warden can slap them with a penalty notice.
