Street lights to be dimmed in green bid
STREET lighting in Quedgeley is to be dimmed or even turned off.
It will save the council money and improve the city's carbon footprint.
The changes to the lighting will start to take affect from April.
Quedgeley resident Patricia Havard said: "This is something I would welcome.

"It will begin in April."
Dimming street lights late at night has been introduced by other local authorities and has been welcomed by green campaigners.

“It can't come soon enough for me.
There are about 10 street lamps visible from our bathroom.
We don't to turn our upstairs lights on much, though.
What a waste of money!”

“Green' my @r$£!
It's all about costs. I don't blame them for that, just front up and admit it.
If it was all about being green, then every bit of plastic, card, metal etc would be taken from our homes, yet EVERY week, something I thought was recycleable, gets left in the green bin by the binmen, so goes straight in my black bin after they've gone.
This week was a couple of 1 ltr orange juice cartons, and the plastic punnets that fruit comes packed in, were left behind.
I had an 'exchange' with someone from the Council a few years ago, about why they only took the milk cartons and not the lids. They said it wasn't economically viable.........says it all, really.”
