Stroke victim needs £10k to fly back home
BUILDER Wayne Sadler suffered a major stroke while in Jamaica and needs readers of The Citizen to help him get back to Gloucester.
We told you on Monday how the 40-year-old was left in a coma and paralysed down his left side after flying to Kingston to visit his mother.

It could cost as little as £10,000 if surgeons agree he can come back on a regular flight with a doctor by his side.
But the costs could soar to more than £30,000 if they rule he will need an air ambulance to get him home.
First he needs to overcome a blood clot in his leg and MRSA, the deadly hospital bug which he has just contracted. In the meantime, family members have teamed up with The Citizen to help raise the money to bring him home in the New Year.
Father-in-law Steve Lewis, who runs the Spartans Rugby Club at Kingsholm, said: "We are delighted that The Citizen is offering to help.
"We are planning a charity event in January to raise as much as we can."
Support for the campaign is already coming in from people who know Wayne.
Carlton Walker, chairman of the All Nations Club, said: "Wayne is a member of the club and this is a very sad situation so we decided that we wanted to do something to help.
"We had already planned a dance after Christmas and we've decided that the proceeds from that will go toward helping get Wayne home.
"It is a shame that he won't be able to get back for Christmas but it is nice to be able to do something to help him."
The event will take place on December 29 at the club in Chase Lane from 10pm. Tickets are £7 on the door and there will be a raffle to raise funds.

“Poor family, although as a father leaving his young family he should of paid for insurance to cover this sort of sad event. what i am unsure about is the actual costs involved here....if this was clear maybe more would help out. as it stands it could be 10k or 30k ....what happens if 10k is raised and the true costs exceed this ?”

“I hope he recovers and gets home soon, but any one reading this please realize the importance of travel insurance. The insurance premium is always good value. Don't think it won't happen to you because it might.
Anything of value needs to be insured and that includes life assurance.What is more valuable to his family than his ability to provide for them.
Like 16Terri I will not be contributing.”

“I really hope he gets back, but much as it adds to the cost you cannot go on holiday without adequate insurance. You have to look at it as part of the cost of the holiday and non-negotiable. Sorry, won't be helping this time”

“Why is he not being repatriated under his travel insurance?
I don't go to Calais without travel insurance. I am off on holiday in 3 weeks time to the sun and I purchase my travel insurance on an annual basis.
If he has no travel insurance I have little sympathy.”
