Student killed in crash named as Vandana Singh
A promising law student from Cheltenham who was hit by a car in Oxford and killed this week has been named as Vandana Singh.
The former Pates Grammar School pupil, 21, was walking along the A40 in Headington, Oxford, just after 10.30pm on Monday when she was hit by a Ford Ka.
She was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
The driver of the Ford Ka was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital, in Oxford, following the incident where she was treated for shock.

A spokesman for the Oxfordshire Coroner's Office said an inquest into Vandana's death had been opened and adjourned.

“A40 at Headington? That's dual carriageway, with pavements / service roads / wide grass verges on at least one side of the carriageway if not both sides, and at points lit as well. So was she actually in the carriageway when hit?
Another young life lost on the roads (if not actually in "our" county this time). Far too many of late, it seems. Condolences to the family.”
