Final figures released by the college today show a pleasing increase of more than two per cent in the proportion gaining their firm choice.

Additionally, more than 90% will be attending Russell Group universities and 18 have gained places to study medicine, dentistry or veterinary science.

Furthermore, 18 girls have taken up places at universities in the USA.

Jo Wintle, Head of Professional Guidance at the college, said: "These outcomes follow a particularly good year for higher education applications.

"Of all applications to all UK universities across all subjects, the offer rate was 70% - our best in recent years.

"Girls apply for a huge range of subjects and each individual is supported in making their application by their tutor, a subject-specific mentor, the US University Adviser, the Head of Sixth Form College and the Professional Guidance Centre team.

"This year successful applications have been made across all faculty areas."

In the past three years, 56 girls have received offers from Oxford or Cambridge, with this year's leavers securing places to study Chemistry, PPE and law, among a host of other subjects.

Girls who left SFC2 (year 13) in the summer will go on to read subjects as varied as Animation; Architecture; Building Surveying; Engineering; English; Geography; History of Art; History, Mathematics; Modern Foreign Languages; Music; Philosophy; Sport, Coaching and Physical Education; and Theology.
