I have no problem with races, but please next time organise it better! I had to take my daughter(she is a carer) to work on Sunday morning left my house
in Tredworth at 7;30am to pick her up(from Linden),only to find the roads had already been closed. Not only that but there were no roads open to get into Linden followed all the redirection signs but no there were none ! Tredworth road/Stroud road junction closed,St Barnabas roundabout closed,St Pauls lights closed,Cole avenue/Podsmead closed,Bristol road closed at both ends even stop a police man to ask for help,he couldn't even tell me how to get
into Linden I had to ring my daughter to walk up to St Barnabas and pick her up from there, she had to ring her client to tell her she was going to be late
(The poor lady was stuck in bed until my daughter got to her)I finally got her to work 1 hour late! There were lots of people not happy and I was ONE OF

“I have already contacted the race organisers and got an answer about how seriously they take the organisation of these things (clearly not true).
I will be contacting the council as well and will be watching out for details of next years event in the hope I don't get caught out again.
Co-incidentally, did any Linden residents get a leaflet through the door before the race? Apparently everyone was leafleted but I must have been missed?? I was later given a copy of the leaflet but sadly the plan on the leaflet did not actually reflect what happened anyway?”

“I suggest before they organize another race the route does not shut off a whole community .The pied piper race is much larger but we do not have this hassle.Take a tip from them”

“I, too, live in the Stroud Road area, and can tell you that I only knew about the race due to having to pick up numerous signs that were lying around on pavements, causing potential trip hazards. I didn't see even one sign that could possibly have been read by a motorist.
I agree that the organisation was appalling.”

“There were yellow road closure signs in Stroud Road the week before the race, I saw at least three myself, and planned my route through the back streets and parked my car up and walked the last 400 metres to my destination in Stroud Road. Not everyone though nows the back streets around the city as well as me though, so I can see how it would be a nightmare for many, especially if walking out of the question. Seemed to be alot more cars that parked in Tredworth area that day.”

“Oh dear what a shambles - the words p*ss up and brewery spring to mind! Maybe next time (if there is one) they should stick with running around Robinswood Hill or the Westgate Water Meadow!”

“I'd just like to add to the conversation by saying that yes, I was aware of the road closures and I planned ahead.
Last week I contacted the office of the organisers asking them for advice given that I work on a Sunday morning. I live at the Docks and needed to travel to work in Cheltenham. I was advised by 'Fleur' that the runners would have passed the Docks area by 9.30am at the latest and that I would be fine to travel there after.
Imagine my surprise/disgust when I found this to be completely inaccurate and that the Marshalls would not allow me to leave the area. I finally got to work over an hour late.
Shocking organisation, I'm absolutely appalled. Not even the organisers had a clue about the road closure duration.”

“Well done dunnybudgie for being sooo prepared as to checking the internet and planning routes. However, the rest of us actually have lives to live. No permission was asked of residents who pay their council tax, road tax and parking permits, instead it was thrust upon us (even if there were signs). I truly hope that we are informed about the cost of this event on taxpayers money and I hope funds raised will reimburse the already financially struggling Gloucester Council. I for one will oppose any future plans that completely isolate such an integral and populated residential part of the city!!”

“yes god gave us legs but unlike you not every one can walk and you are saying then if you were due to start work at 9oclock you had to leave before 7oclock what were you supposed to do for those 2hours.What abot the elderly who relied on their carers to get them up and feed them. Not everyones carers live on the door step.Very selfish way of thinking. Some people think it does not effect them so blow everyone else”

“As the signs said road shut from 0700-1130 - if you have looked on the internet beforehand you would have seen the route and been able to think about the solutions to your problems - and as for getting to Seymour rd from Tredworth rd. God gave us legs for a reason, she could have walked !!! I live on Stroud rd and if I was working on Sunday, I would have parked my car near an exit route so I could have got out of the rd. There was no point arguing with the people stopping traffic, they were just doing their job - I though it was very unfair for people to do this. Enough notice was given, and unfortunately it is, as normal, people blaming other people for their own lack of planning!!!”
