An investigation is being carried out following a number of fires in Stonehouse, near Stroud, during the early hours of this morning.

The first incident took place shortly before 1am, in Green Street, with blazes in two separate outbuildings in the garden of a house.

Later on in the morning - at around 6am - fires started in three separate garages in Festival Road, Stonehouse.

The Fire Service dealt with all of the fires, however some cars, garden machinery and other outdoor equipment were damaged during the incidents.

“Shame they haven't found the charred remains of an arsonist at one of the incidents. As given away by the can of lighter fluid and box of matches found on their person.

One day a fire-starter will trap themselves in one of their conflagrations. Would serve them right.”
