TEWKESBURY Swimming Club celebrated in style at Croft Farm Water Park after putting in a fantastic performance in 2010.

The club returned to the national stage this year with 11-year-old Hattie Rothwell qualifying and competing at the ASA Nationals at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

All competing members of the club have been in top form with a number of personal bests and medals.

Younger members have also been taking up the challenge and preparing for the 2011 season in the Four Seasons and Wyvern Leagues.

GLOUCESTER COUNTIES 2010 RESULTS:

■ 189 PBs from 217 events

■ Junior champion in three events (Craig Skinner)

■ Five gold medals

■ 28 silver medals

■ 23 bronze medals

■ Three county records

■ Nine finals

■ First and second – 11-year-old girls age-group award (Rebecca Sheppard and Hattie Rothwell)

■ Third and sixth – 10-year-old boys age-group award (Tom Hughes and Matthew Benson)

■ Fourth – 12-year-old girls age group award (Isobel Compton)

■ Eighth – 12-year-old boys age group award (Eli Gibney)

■ Seven stroke awards (15+) (Will Gibney and Criag Skinner)

■ Ten swimmers with South West region qualifications

■ One swimmer with two national qualification times (Hattie Rothwell)

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS:

■ Hattie Rothwell competed at nationals Ponds Forge and finishes in top 20 in the UK

■ Rebecca Sheppard wins counties and south west region 12-year-old girls open water competitions

■ Hattie and Rebecca take county records at Gloucester Counties

■ Sam Wilson takes part in National Synchro Championships

■ Maia Hawkins and Eli Gibney qualify for National Triathlon age groups

■ Rebecca Sheppard trains for English Channel record with Bristol English Channel swim team (B.E.S.T.)

The 2010 season finished with raft building and a picnic at Croft Farm Water Park in Tewkesbury with new head coach Kevin Walters.
