Eight cases of swine flu have been confirmed at Westonbirt School
Headteacher Mary Henderson said: "We have eight confirmed cases as of today, and eleven further pupils have symptoms.
"The eight girls were put into isolation until they could be collected by their parents."
The spread of the virus is thought to have come from a theatre trip to London last week.
"The first suspected case came from a drama trip to London on Monday," said Mrs Henderson.
"The first girl was sent home on Monday and by Tuesday a few other girls were showing symptoms."
The £15,000 per year school caters for both full-time boarders and day pupils.

“Sure but it's not the fee paying bit that is exacerbating things for those schools, it's the boarding element - all in together like a family.”
