Sympathy for All Saints' Academy head after decision to quit due to health concerns
SYMPATHY has been offered to Peter Kingham, the principal of All Saints' Academy in Cheltenham, who resigned this week.
The 56-year-old said he was stepping down mid-term amidst health concerns brought on by the pressures of the job.
He has been at the helm of the Hester's Way school since it opened in September 2011.
Mr Kingham gave an emotional speech to pupils and teachers yesterday, confirming news of his departure at the end of this month.

Parents were shocked at the timing of the announcement.
One dad said: "I think it shows what a high pressure job being head of a school like All Saints' can be. Fair play to him for putting his family and his health first."
Youngsters at the multi-faith school wished him all the best.
One pupil said: "Mr Kingham works hard for All Saints' Academy and was emotional in giving the speech today.
"Anyone there would be no doubt that it was genuine. He's a great man."
Mr Kingham voiced sadness at leaving so suddenly but cited unhappiness at having to live far away from his family in Coventry as a driving factor in the decision.
Anthony McClaran, chairman of governors, wrote to parents, praising Mr Kingham's "outstanding contribution" and emphasising a desire to build on the foundations put in place by the founding headteacher.
"There is much to be thankful for and much to look forward to, for staff, parents and most importantly of all, the students of All Saints' Academy," he said.
Mr Kingham will be released from his role on October 31.
Vice principal Steve Powell will take over the reins as acting principal until a replacement is found.
