LOW-LEVEL criminals lurking on Cheltenham's Honeybourne Line are being targeted by police.

The disused railway line, which runs from the Prince of Wales Stadium in Tommy Taylors Lane to the Queen's Road train station, has become the site of increasing incidents of anti-social behaviour in recent months.

Following calls from residents to do more to tackle the issue, Cheltenham's Safer Community Team has made it one of its priorities for the next three months.

PCSO Trevor May said: "People are concerned about the area and the levels of anti-social behaviour and criminality there.

"We are listening to what people are saying and will increase patrols to target any problems in the area.

"By working with the council, we will make the Honeybourne Line a safer and more secure environment for people to visit."

The move to curb crime on the Honeybourne Line comes months after a 24-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in the area while walking her dog off Malvern Road.
