Talented young wind musicians wanted
GLOUCESTERSHIRE Youth Wind Orchestra is looking for talented youngsters to join them.
A celebration of music will be taking place on Thursday to welcome any new recruits.
Keith Allen, chairman of the National Concert Band Festival and Philip Mercer, former RAF Central Band member will both be at the event at St Peter’s High School in Gloucester from 7pm.
Eight brass teachers and students from Lithuania will also be there.
Steven Legge, assistant head of Gloucestershire Music said: “This will be a perfect event to welcome new players to Gloucestershire Youth Wind Orchestra.
“We already have a healthy membership of 55 young players who represent their county through music.
“We have room for another 10 dedicated young musicians who are a minimum of grade six on a brass, woodwind or percussion instrument.
“We run county groups for string players and vocalists as well and encourage any young musician to get in touch to find out more.”
