Tasty treats on final day of Victorian market

“Typical TIG comments, moan, moan, moan. We went with our 11 month old, yes it was busy, yes we couldn't move, yes getting near a stall you wanted to see was a pain in the backside and yes, people were ignaront and got in the way of our pushchair, but we just got on with it because thats what you do! You go to any big event, you will have the same issues, thats a testiment to just how popular it was. It makes a huge change to have something in Gloucester that was worth visiting and I sincerely hope it happens again next year, the year after that and the year after that.

For years people have moaned that in Gloucester we do nothing at Christmas, and after a few disappointments and failures (like a giant tent in kings square??) something decent comes along and still people moan!?

Be thankful we even have the quays here, bringing tourists, trade AND MONEY to our fair city, let alone the fantastic Christmas market we had the pleasure of having.”

As anyone who lives in the area knows the problems where caused by inconsiderate drivers blocking junctions and the entrance to Southgate Street car park.
If you live half a mile away as one poster said then unless you have a really good excuse walk you might just enjoy it and it would be good for your health or parked down Spa Road area (there where empty spaces all of Sunday)

“I went with my young family 1&1/2 years and 3 month old baby. We loved it! brilliant event well done will be going next year.
I don't get it, people moan when there is nothing on at the quays and moan when there is! Stay at home then I'm happy with that I don't want to spend my Christmas around misery! People say parking was terrible I shan't be going next year! Don't then! instead they should be thinking parking was terrible like at any large event or sporting event would be if you park directly on it, next time I'll park in town or with a little walk away so as not to get stuck in traffic.”

“First and last visit to Quays. Although only living half a mile away we had to detour around the bypass to get there thinking there had been an accident. Had to park on 4th floor and waited nearly 15 minutes before being able to get in the lift to go down!!
We couldn't get to the market - which was why we went as it was a solid jam of people and deemed too dangerous for my elderly mum after a wheelcair ran into my leg and cut it.
So we gave it up as a bad job, finally got back to the car and thenit took 1hour 5 minutes to move 12 ft!!!
Abo****ely horrendous and extreemly dangerous should there have been an incident and the place had to be evacuated!
We will never go again.”

“I should add that we parked in the Longsmith Street car park, loads of spaces, 5 minute walk from the Quays and no queues getting in or out!”

“Shame to see so many negative comments on here. We went late this morning and yes it was very busy but it was great. All those complaining how busy it was would also have complained about the lack of atmosphere had there been only a few people there! As for the goods being overpriced, yes, those people looking for cheese, cider and chutney at Tesco prices would be disappointed but these were handmade locally and will always cost more than mass-produced stuff. We bought some cheese and chutney and had it for lunch when we got home.
I will definately be going next year.

“Utterly terrible time. It was a nightmare and very dangerous especially for my small children who were squashed, pushed and we could not see anything. It also took me an hour to get out of the Quays carpark, which was horrendous and a joke. Very poor. The management of the Quays need to look into this. A shambles of an experience and I for one will not be going back.”
