Taxpayers struggle to make ends meet
I WAS listening to Jeremy Vine on Friday – he had a woman on who was so hard-up she could not afford to put her heating on in the winter and whose day's food consisted of bread and margarine. She fed her dog before herself, as it was not his fault she was in that position – and this woman worked for a living.
There is something seriously wrong with this country when there are people working and trying to support themselves who are unable to earn enough to pay soaring energy and food bills, and are going cold and hungry as a result. Their taxes are going to support the likes of Heather Frost, who no doubt will have plenty of food on her table and the heating full on this winter, and is also flush enough on taxpayers' money to afford a menagerie of pets.
