In mitigation, David Murray told Warwick crown court: “This is a matter which was partially captured on a mobile phone and which was uploaded on to YouTube, receiving publicity nationally.”
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Mr Singh’s daughter-in-law, who asked not to be named, said: “He has not been the same, he is nervous and won’t leave the house. He is scared of people coming up to him now, he is uncommunicative. It is unbelievable, I was dumbfounded when I saw the attack.
“To do this to an 80-year-old man is beyond comprehension.”
A Facebook page called “Name & Shame: Coral Millerchip” was set up and it has since attracted more than 4,600 likes.
People have flocked to the public site to leave their opinions.
Lalith Salgado said: “Oh man, what a disgusting thing to do.
“This 19-year-old attacking a 80-year-old Sikh senior citizen. Words fail me to express my deep sorrow.
“I pray and hope Mr Singh is okay and his family and community make him feel loved.
“I am sure she will be getting what she deserves very soon. This is one of the worst elder abuse cases I have seen. Sikh community be strong.”
Keith Jones added: “Remanded into custody.
“Hope they throw the book at her. An utter disgrace.”
