A TALK in tribute to the late music producer Joe Meek is being held this weekend.

Musicologist Rob Bradford will present the event, at St Michael's Tower, in The Cross, Gloucester, at 11.30am on Saturday, to celebrate 50 years of Telstar, the record made famous by Meek's band The Tornados in 1962.

Meek, who hailed from Newent, was recently named the number one pop producer of all time by music magazine NME.

Tickets cost £3 from St Michael's Tower or the Tourist Information Centre on Southgate Street.
