HORRIFIED mum-of-three Hannah Lacey says her daughter could have choked to death on a four-inch rubber pipe found in her Tesco sandwich.

Ten-year-old Chloe was just about to munch into her chicken and sweetcorn sandwich, bought from the Brockworth store, when her mum spotted the piping.

  1. SHOCKING: The black rubber pipe can clearly be seen in the chicken and sweetcorn sandwich.

"We certainly won't be touching their sandwiches again. At first I thought it was a piece of black pepper or something but then I noticed how big it was.

"I couldn't believe it was actually a piece of rubber, probably about four inches long."

Her other children, Leo, three, and Alfie, one, ate another sandwich without issue.

Mrs Lacey was driving at the time and said she was lucky that she looked over to her daughter and spotted the foreign object.

She went straight back to the store to get a refund and contacted Tesco's head office to complain about it.

Tesco offered the family a £10 shopping voucher for their troubles.

But Mrs Lacey, a Tesco worker herself, said: "I am just being palmed off.

"This could have been very serious and I've not so much had a proper apology from them."

It is not the first time that Tesco has been hauled over the coals over things appearing in their sandwiches.

Last month a mum-of-two from Stockport, Greater Manchester, bit into a dead, sliced rodent after buying her sandwich.

A spokesman for Tesco said: "We set ourselves the highest standards for food safety and our suppliers have robust systems in place to prevent incidents like this.

"We are urgently investigating this matter with the supplier and will keep our customer informed."

Tesco bosses are investigating the factory where the sandwich was produced and compiling a report.

Why would you buy it in the first place, unless you want some compo and and a newspaper rag article.

When will some people take some personal responsibility?”

    Lmao!

Tesco ethos is not only unethical but completely immoral.

Onl uneducated feckwits go there to shop regularly.
Rather do a twice mnthly shop at AsDa. Much cheaper and can offload to hungry strangers the leftover packaged sarnies see.. ;d”

“Clearly the rubber tube should not have been in the sandwich but it's also possible to choke on both pieces of chicken and sweetcorn.”

“Blimey, you're right, Willow. There are some black capsicums out there. Never seen one myself, and there are people asking questions on the net, such as "are there black capsicum (bell peppers)?", so I'm not the only one who didn't know.”

“Ridiculous! No idea who in there right mind would go to the papers with this story, especially seeing as she works there!!
Hope they make her life difficult and she leaves! She is at the customer service desk every time she shops with apparent over charges or complaints! They shouldn't have given her a penny!
There are plenty of people in Gloucester who would snap her job up and appreciate it a lot more than she does!
    Total Madness!!!!”
