A THEFT attempt was foiled by vigilant hair salon staff in Lydney.

Two men and a woman were thwarted in a reported bid to steal an iPhone at Kudos hairdressers in Hill Street on Tuesday afternoon.

The trio entered the shop and started speaking to an assistant. One of the men walked into the adjacent staff room and was challenged by workers at the shop, who found an iPhone 4 missing. When the man was confronted, he allegedly slipped the phone on to a desk, claiming he had not taken it. The group then made off towards Newerne Street.

The first man is described as Turkish, about 5ft 8ins tall, slim, in his early 20s and with black hair in a "mullet" style. He was clean shaven and with noticeably bushy eyebrows. The second man is described as Turkish, 5ft 8ins, in his late 30s or early 40s, of larger build and with short black hair shaved at the sides but longer on top. He was clean shaven with dark brown eyes and a wide nose.

The woman is described as white, Eastern European, about 5ft 9ins, in her late 30s or early 40s, "plump", with mousy brown hair pulled back and held up by a blue scarf with tassels.

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident 290 of February 7.
