Thief tried to snatch handbags in Cheltenham
POLICE are searching for a thief who attempted to snatch handbags from two women in Cheltenham town centre.
Both incidents happened within minutes of each other, at around 10.20am, on Thursday, February 7.

The thief ran up behind a couple as they walked along St George's Place and grabbed hold of the woman's handbag.
However the woman, a 63-year-old from Cheltenham, managed to keep hold of the bag, but she was knocked to the floor as she resisted. She was not injured.

The thief ran away when a passerby intervened, heading into an alleyway which runs alongside the Bayshill Inn.
In the alleyway, he tried to snatch the handbag of a 67-year-old woman from Kemerton, but she was able to move out of the way and he ran off.
The thief was described as a white man, aged in his 20s and around 5ft 8ins tall. He was wearing a light coloured, possibly grey or green, hooded jumper and jeans.
Any witnesses to either incident who haven't yet spoken to officers are asked to call Gloucestershire police on 101, quoting incident number 148 of February 7.
