Thug knocks man to street in attempted robbery in full view of busy street
A MAN was knocked to the ground by a would-be robber who tried to steal his mobile phone outside a busy shop in Hester's Way.
The victim, a 25-year-old from Cheltenham, was outside the Co-op store in Hester's Way Road when he was attacked.
He was approached by a man who barged into him to knock him to the ground and then tried to take his phone.
However, the victim managed to keep hold of it, and the attacker fled.

The incident happened at around 6.15pm on Saturday, and the area was busy at the time with pedestrians and passing vehicles.
Witnesses described the man as white, and around 5ft 11ins tall with a medium build.
He was wearing white trainers with two red stripes on the sides, a dark coloured beanie hat, dark coloured jeans and a jacket.
The victim was not injured.
Gloucestershire police officers are urging anybody who witnessed the attempted robbery to come forward.
A spokeswoman said: "The area was quite busy with pedestrians and vehicles passing.
"Officers are eager to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anyone matching the description in the area."
Margaret Hutchings, who lives in the area, said she was shocked to discover the assault had taken place with so many people around.
The 77-year-old, who did not witness the attack, said: "It's very shocking that this happened at such a busy time on a Saturday evening. "The police are very good around here and put a lot of effort into catching people like this. But it is scary to think that someone willing to do something like this so brazenly, when there were lots of people around, is still out there on the streets.
"I'm sure I speak for everyone who lives locally when I say that the sooner the police catch this man, the better.
"The amount of crime in the area has gone down recently, and hopefully this is just a one-off."
