GLOUCESTER City have bolstered their attacking options ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Harrogate with the loan capture of Bristol Rovers striker Ben Hunt.

The 19-year-old striker joins Rovers team-mate Mike Green in making a temporary move to the Tigers.

A product of the renowned West Ham academy, Hunt joined Rovers in 2008 after impressing Director of Football Lennie Lawrence at the exit trials.

He is expected to go straight into the Tigers’ squad for tomorrow’s clash at the CNG Stadium.

Meanwhile, the captain’s armband is up for grabs as City head to Yorkshire without their three first-choice skippers.

Manager Dave Mehew said he would not decide on team selection until tomorrow as the Tigers look for points against the Blue Square North strugglers.

With team captain Tom Webb, vice-captain Matt Rose and last year’s skipper Neil Mustoe all suspended, Mehew will be calling on his remaining senior players to lead the team.

He said: “I am without my three captains so it is a chance for the others to step up and deliver for me.

“We will find out what they are made of on Saturday. Yes, Harrogate are bottom but they have had a few good results and brought in some new players, including one from Lincoln this week.”

The loss of Webb and Rose from the midfield has left Mehew reviewing his options.

“Jack Harris is an option in midfield,” he said. “He has told me he would like to have a go there. Then there is Nelson (Monhoun) or I could play Marc Richards in midfield.

“I will see how they all go at training. James Baldwin is another option.”

Student Sam Ellis is also back for the Harrogate game, having finished university in Sheffield for the festive break.
