Tim's still reeling in fans to film society
FILM buff Tim Mugford is the star among movie members after leading their group for 34 years.
The 81-year-old retired solicitor is still in the hot seat at Stroud Film Society after becoming its chairman in 1978.
"He and his wife Kirsten are unsung heroes," said long-time society member and former Gloucestershire county councillor Maureen Rutter, 87.
"I, for one, am delighted to know them and grateful for what they do, especially as it is not so easy for me to travel far to see brilliant – and not necessarily the most popular – films."

Mrs Rutter said people living in and around Stroud were fortunate since the society was "a jewel in our cultural crown".
Mr Mugford, whose home is in Uplands, said he had enjoyed the National Film Theatre when he lived in London and had been glad to find the film society when he moved to Stroud.
"I haven't got a favourite film. A lot of people ask me that," he said.
"There are a lot very good ones which I have seen over the years. What I do like seeing are foreign movies which show you life in that country. They are interesting," said Mr Mugford who attends special screenings to help select films for the society.
Stroud Film Society was founded in 1958 by Jack and Grace Allington of Ebley.
In its early days it met at the old St Matthew's Church Hall in Cainscross.
Stroud Film Society has just begun its latest season of 10 regular monthly screenings at the British School which include Sing Your Song: the story of Harry Belafonte and Martin Scorsese's latest Hugo.
