Time is running out for Deering to make a lasting impression
SAM Deering knows he has 19 games left in which to make an impact in his first season at Cheltenham Town.
The summer signing from Barnet has struggled to break into Mark Yates' team, but he was handed his first League Two start since October 27 for last Friday night's 0-0 draw at Morecambe.

Most of his previous ten full appearances have been in a central role, just off a lone front man, but he was deployed on the left wing at the Globe Arena.
Cheltenham fired a blank on a poor pitch, but Deering is hoping to have done enough to retain his place for tonight's home fixture against Rochdale.

"To stay in the team I have to keep putting in performances like I did at Morecambe," Deering said. "I am feeling a lot fitter and I believe I can get a run of form going now.
"I got quite a few assists for Barnet last season, but I didn't score as many as I'd like, but now I am back in the team, hopefully I can score and set up a few between now and the end of the season."
Deering could have been celebrating his first Cheltenham goal at Morecambe had Jermaine McGlashan picked him out at the far post rather than aiming for Kaid Mohamed, who placed his shot wide.
"I had a word with J (McGlashan) afterwards and he made it clear he didn't look," Deering said.
"He picked Mo out and he was unlucky not to score, but sometimes things like that change games."
Deering also felt he should have been awarded a penalty late in the first half.
"Their player (Andrew Fleming) was trying to clear the ball, but I nicked past him and he clearly kicked me basically," Deering said.
