Traffic light work could cause chaos
TRAFFIC light replacement could mean tailbacks for motorists.
Refurbishment work on the A419 Ebley bypass and Ryeford junction from Monday, October 29 will take place outside of peak times from 9.15am to 3pm for up to six weeks. Old traffic signal poles, heads, loops and cables, and collapsed ducts need to be replaced.
Though initially the permanent traffic signals will be left on, as the works progress we will need to remove the permanent lights and manage traffic using three-way temporary lights.
Should this method of traffic management prove too disruptive, it will be necessary to close the central area of both parts of the junction (at Ryeford and at the industrial estate) and temporarily ban all right-turn moves, with traffic being diverted to Sainsbury's roundabout in Dudbridge and Horsetrough roundabout at Stonehouse.

If this approach is needed, Highways will give as much advanced notice as possible using warning signs on site.
Cllr Will Windsor-Clive, Cabinet Member for Communities at Gloucestershire County Council, said: "This is a busy junction and, for us to improve the way in which traffic is managed, motorists will face some inconvenience. We have worked hard to ensure that any disruption is kept to a minimum and would ask for patience from those residents affected."
