Tributes paid to cyclist Alexander Ward

The grieving family of Alexander Ward have paid tribute to their son, saying they will always remember his smile.

The 23-year-old cyclist was killed in a road crash at Ford, near Winchcombe, on Sunday.

He had moved to Cheltenham from Cambridge around a year ago to take up an opportunity at GE Aviation in Bishop's Cleeve.

Megan Carpenter, his girlfriend of seven years, said he had loved exploring the Cotswolds.

She said: "He really enjoyed living in the Cotswolds, especially cycling in the area; He has recently taken part in the London to Brighton charity cycle ride with colleagues from GE. We did have plans to cycle together from Vienna to Budapest this summer."

He leaves behind his father Peter, mother Ute and younger brother Christopher.
