Tributes paid to pensioner Ivor Howard who died in Shurdington collision
TRIBUTES have been paid to a well-loved and popular member of the Shurdington community, who died following a road collision.
Ivor Howard from the village has been named locally as the cyclist who died in a crash on the A46 in Shurdington with a red Mini on Tuesday.
Neighbours Tony and Nitsa Antonious had lived next to the 87-year-old for 42 years.
The couple said he was a dad to Richard, Christopher and Elizabeth and also had two grandchildren.

She said the keen fly-fisherman would often give them his catches, share newspapers with them and go shopping for friends in the road where he lived if they were ill.
Nitsa said: "He was a wonderful man and we will miss him very much – you could not ask for a better neighbour.
"He had been living here since the houses were built and he was just a lovely man. We are very shocked and saddened by it. Although he was nearly 90, he was fit, active and looked after himself very well."
Tony added: "He was always on his bike and he was fit and healthy – I'm sure he would have got to 100.
"He was a very traditional man and you could set your watch by him. We would often see him in the garden having tea with a cup and saucer.
"After his wife Dot died, he became very independent doing all the cooking and housework himself.
"He loved to go dancing and would go to church every Sunday."
The former district nurse was a keen gardener and was making a trip to the nurseries before visiting his Shurdington allotment when he died.
Mr Howard was a regular part of the congregation at St Paul's Church in Shurdington, where he used to be a sidesman.
He also used to deliver the parish magazine in his younger years.
Reverence Richard Mitchell paid tribute to him.
He said: "He was a very faithful attender and pleasant person, who will be sadly missed by many at the church."
He had been preparing his Christmas cake and presents for his family in the days before his death.
Mr Howard suffered life-threatening injuries following the collision and was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, where he died later that night.
He was the second casualty on the county's roads that day.
Hugo Watson, 22, from Tewkesbury, was driving a VW Golf on the B4077 near Alderton on Tuesday afternoon before a collision.
Alan Roberts, is deputy head of Prince Henry's High School in Evesham where Hugo was a former student.
Mr Roberts said: "He was a very popular young man with lots of friends. He always had a happy smile on his face and was laughing.
"He had a genuinely cheerful and positive outlook on life.
"Our thoughts are with his family and the many friends of Hugo he had from the school."
