NEW cash to help fund the running of Churchdown Library in Parton Road is being discussed.

Parish councillors met last night to assess how much the council can offer the library for the new financial year.

Representatives visited the library last month to assess its needs and value in the community.

Around 30 volunteers give up their time to help out with activities there and deliver books to housebound residents.

Last year, the library received £5,000 in grants that was spent on staff training and support, new books and circulation of stock from other libraries.

The public can also download ebooks from the county website.

Council decision makers will assess library footfall, running costs and lunchtime opening hours.
