Troops waiting for Mali order
SOLDIERS from the county are still waiting to hear whether they will be among 330 military personnel sent to Mali.
The Prime Minister announced this week British soldiers will be going to West Africa, where French and Malian forces having been driving back Islamist rebels.
However, it is unclear whether anyone from the Gloucestershire-based 1 Rifles will be among the African-led International Support Mission to Mali (AFISMA).
An Army spokesman said: "As part of prudent planning to support the EU training Mission and AFISMA the Army has placed a pool of forces on a reduced notice to move.
