VICTORY over Frampton United at Glevum Park tonight will propel Tuffley Rovers back to the top of the Gloucestershire County League.

Denied the chance to hold on to their slim lead due to a waterlogged pitch on Saturday, Tuffley lost top spot to Southmead CS Athletic who edged a seven goal thriller against Taverners.

Second-from-bottom Taverners took the lead in the eighth minute thanks to a fine goal from Rory Gardiner but Luke Mills levelled seven minutes later.

Mills added a second goal before Tom Burridge levelled the scores on 34 minutes, and Rory Gardiner had Taverners dreaming of an upset with a low finish just before the break.

Southmead hit back with an equaliser early in the second half as Vinny Coote fired home from a corner, and the Bristol side grabbed a winner 18 minutes from time as Danny Glancy drove home.

King's Stanley missed out on a chance to pressure the leaders as they went down to a 2-0 defeat at Chipping Sodbury Town.

Alex Fox gave Sodbury the lead just after the interval but Stanley's hopes of a comeback were aided when Mike England saw red after receiving a second yellow card.

But the ten men held on and Justin Cattle sealed the three points with a decisive second goal two minutes from time.

Sixth-placed Ellwood got back to winning ways thanks to a 3-1 victory over Bishop's Cleeve Reserves despite conceding the opening goal.

George Nicholls gave the visiting Villagers the lead on the half-hour mark but the hosts levelled the scores two minutes later thanks to a Daryl Addis strike.

Addis' second gave Ellwood the lead two minutes into the second half and the Foresters sealed the victory thanks to a Lee Scotford goal on 69 minutes.

Mid-table Longlevens secured a thrilling victory at Thornbury Town, where two late goals turned the game on its head.

After a goalless first half, the game sprung into life after Thornbury substitute Sam Jones capitalised on a slip from Longlevens goalkeeper Ed Smyllie to give his side the lead.

Danny Thompson missed a glorious chance to make the game safe after being put clean through on goal but he shot wide.

And Longlevens made him pay as first Scott Goodhall slammed home a loose ball in the box on 82 minutes to level the scores before Shaun O'Connor grabbed the winner two minutes from time.

At the bottom of the table Berkeley Town's late resurgence looks to have come too late to save their season, but the Hunters can at least take solace in extending their unbeaten run to three games.

Their 2-2 draw with Yate Town Reserves leaves them four points adrift of second bottom DRG Frenchay, but having played three more games.

Yate took the lead at the Nuclear Power Station ground as Jack Parker finished from close range but Sam Strickland levelled the scores with a neat finish just before the break.

The visitors looked to have stolen the points with a Liam Crew goal five minutes from time, but fine play from Tom Palmer and James Mackie set Strickland up for a last-minute leveller.

Other results: Bristol Academy 2 Patchway Town 1, Henbury 2 DRG Frenchay 1, Rockleaze Rangers 2 Kingswood 1.
