Tyler encouraged despite defeat
ROCKHAMPTON skipper Matt Tyler wants his side to take confidence from last week's defeat to top side Biddestone.
Despite eventually losing, Tyler feels his team showed they can compete with the Glos/Wilts Division leaders and is targeting victory in the return fixture tomorrow.
"The game basically came down to one player making a score," Tyler said.
"We bowled and fielded well but their skipper got away and scored a few runs.
"Then when it was our turn to bat, six or seven of us got starts but were unable to go on. That's what it came down to.
"Just when our guys were in and looking to open up they got out. That's the way it goes when you're down the bottom.
"But we were by no means outplayed. None of the batsmen looked out of place so we are well capable of winning tomorrow."
At the halfway point in the season when the fixtures are reversed a week later, Rockhampton have had the misfortune of coming up against the top side twice.
Tyler said: "You could look at it that way, but that's not the way I see it.
"Every team has to play each other twice so it doesn't matter when that happens.
"Every other team in the division will have to play them at some point. Our aim is to go out and get a win tomorrow."
Rockhampton are sitting fourth from bottom in the division and will be looking over their shoulders if another defeat comes their way, having only won twice this season.
They will be without Sam Nicholls this week, who is away on holiday. His replacement is still to be confirmed.
