VIDEO: Monster Magnox boilers on move from Berkeley Nuclear Power Station in Gloucestershire
MONSTER boilers have trundled slowly away from the former Berkeley Nuclear Power Station for the final time.
The last two of the 15 enormous boilers that once powered the site's turbines inched slowly through Berkeley aboard low loaders to begin their journey to be recycled in Sweden.
The boilers began work at Berkeley in 1962.
"They were used like giant kettles to turn water into steam to drive the turbines," said a spokeswoman for Magnox, the company in charge of dismantling and eventually mothballing the site.
