Giant winger Lesley Vainikolo is confident the tries will come despite his barren opening to this season.

In a faltering Gloucester side, the Tongan born English international is yet to cross the whitewash this term, but feels as the team's form improves the chances will start to flow.

"It will come," he said. "It's not the end of the world.

"There's always a game the next week. We don't finish until May, which is a long time."

Asked if his lack of tries is weighing on his mind, he admitted it was.

"A little bit but at the moment I'm concentrated on the team and what I can offer," said the man who scored five times on his debut against Leeds.

"It's not only about scoring tries. It's a team effort so if I can do something to help that then that's good.

"The pressure is on to take the chances. Sometimes it does happen and sometimes it doesn't. Nine out of 10 times you won't score."

Keeping Leicester out on Friday night at Kingsholm was as important as scoring tries, according to Vainikolo.

"To keep them scoreless is the same as scoring a try," he said.

"It's a good feeling for the forwards and the backs."

The message coming out of Gloucester all week is the Leicester win means nothing if Harlequins are not beaten tomorrow, and Vainikolo agrees.

"The second game will be the test," he said. "This game will be the hardest.

"We've made the first step now we need to kick on. Last week we gave it our all and won. It was a big relief for everyone in the club.

"We always knew the win would come in time, and it did. "We don't want to waste it by losing. We want to push on."

“There was a good run from velcro in the 2nd half of the game against Leicester. Which almost looked like it could have been a try.
But 'almost' getting a try doesn't really help Velcro...”
