A stolen van was dumped in Gloucester after a police chase on Saturday.

The white Ford Transit van was stolen between 5pm on Friday March 5 and 8.15am on Saturday March 6 from a warehouse in Lower Tuffley Lane.

At around 10am on Saturday the stolen van was seen by officers in Gloucester but the driver failed to stop and a pursuit began.

It was driven through the pedestrian area of Southgate Street and then onto Northgate Street before it was dumped in Hare Lane and the driver ran from the vehicle.

During the burglary the thieves also attempted to steal a Renault Clio and a Mercedes van.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any information about it, should contact Gloucestershire Constabulary on 0845 090 1234 quoting incident 116 of March 6.

- A 25-year-old man from Gloucester was arrested on suspicion of burglary. He has been bailed to return to Gloucester Police Station on April 29.

    “Well I was almost knocked down by this idiot when he hit the pedestrian area of Glos in speeds which were extremely dangerous in a van with blown out tyres! I'm glad the police called off the chase, in the interest of public safety - although it meant he could get away.
    Just glad no innocent members of the public was struck down by a reckless criminal, but it looks like he might have been caught already. So fair play Glos Police.”

    “Did the keystone cops not chase the thieves on foot, or was it too near the end of their shift. I bet the 25 year old was arrested when he ran into Bearland laughing like a drain.”
