VANDALS have coated a public toilet in Cheltenham in purple hair dye.

The louts struck at the loos in Montpellier Gardens, forcing the council to bring in specialist cleaners.

The toilets will now be shut for several days while the work is carried out.

John Marcer, waste management officer, said: "A lot of money was spent on improving these toilets a couple of years ago, so it's really disappointing that this has happened.

"We want to get the toilets up and running as soon as we can so people using the park can have access to them, but we ask for people's patience in the meantime."
