VEGANS in Cheltenham are hoping to attract more people to their cause by screening free films about the benefits of their lifestyle.

The Cheltenham Vegetarians and Vegans is a newly formed group, which is looking to expand its membership in the area.

The group meets once a month and says it wants to make the town a more vegetarian- and vegan- friendly place to live.

A spokesman for the group said: "We are putting on a free showing of the Vegan Society's new 30-minute film Making The Connection.

"This film aims to dispel the myths and confusion about why many people have chosen a plant-based diet and lifestyle.

It features 11 diverse contributors and includes music from two internationally renowned vegan hip hop artists Promoe and Jah Sun to add to the contemporary feel of the film. There are no graphic scenes of animal slaughter."

The film is being shown at Rendezvous, Portland Street, on Wednesday, January 26, at 7pm.
